With hundreds of games going on this week, it can be difficult to keep track of all the action and watch everything going on while on the road.
Thankfully the folks at Slingbox
were kind enough to send me their latest device (the M1
), for a test drive. After using it for a few days, I'm honestly not sure why I didn't buy this a long time ago.
Setup was pretty straightforward, as simple as connecting a few wires to my cable box and the small M1 device that now sits atop it. I use DirecTV, but pretty much anything is compatible with Slingbox. I logged into my device on Slingbox's website and did some final configuration to set up my remote control, and just like that, every channel I get at home (and in my office), was available to watch remotely. 6595
The best part for me is the fact that my entire library of TV shows (and recorded games on my DVR) is available as well, in very high quality (full HD) and on any of the devices I own (smart phone [Android/iOS], tablet, laptop, etc). There are no monthly fees, and all you need once you purchase the device is a way to access it via the internet.6593
This will come in handy not only for watching live or recorded DVR games on the road, but for following my favorite shows when I'm in Europe or elsewhere. My cable package comes with me when I go on vacation. I know a lot of American basketball players overseas love Slingbox, because it helps them feel like they are still at home when they sit down in their living room in Europe, Asia, South America or anywhere else. 6594
Slingbox is running a campaign for the entire month of March where they will be giving away 68 free M1 devices. You can register for that right here.
Additionally, one lucky winner will receive a cube makeover in their office, college team swag, an office party, and a Slingbox 500 (a $5,000 value). Winners will be announced on March 29, 2015.
