My Mock Draft Feature Released

My Mock Draft Feature Released
Jan 19, 2006, 01:37 am
Ever disagreed with the way we ranked the prospects, who might be coming out or just wanted to follow at home with your own draft board? Well starting today, you will be able to make your own custom mock draft exactly the way YOU think it should done.

All you need to do to join in on the fun--if you have not done so already--is register for a free username with DraftExpress. Once you have done so, follow THIS link; click on “Your 2006 Mock Draft”, and start plugging away your own custom draft board.

You must be registered to create your mock draft so you can save it to our database and make changes over the next 6+ months as often as you like. We will soon be rolling out many more interactive features that will require this as well.

This will be added to the sidebar under the mock drafts section, but in the meantime the location is: http://www.draftexpress.com/mymock.php

Fill out as much of the mock draft as you like, whether it’s just the lottery, the first round, or the entire draft for the hardcore draft fans out there. You can start now and come back to it whenever you want.

Editing your mock draft is simple.

First, decide who gets picked where (according to individual team needs if that suits you) using the pull-down menus or with the floating java box that allows you to move players up and down the board with ease. If you want to use a player that is not currently on the initial mock draft, just scroll down the pull-down bar menu until you find him, or hit the first letter of his last time repeatedly until his name comes up. Be careful not to put the same player on twice.

For example, if you are dead set on giving Coach K a heart attack by putting Josh McRoberts in the first (or second) round of 2006; decide where he would be drafted, find the appropriate pull-down menu for that pick, and either scroll until you find him or hit the letter “M” on your keyboard (approximately 8 times) until his name comes up. Just don’t forget who he replaced if you think that player will still get drafted somewhere. You might want to start from the bottom and eliminate prospects who you think will either go undrafted or will not declare for this draft. Use our 2006 Mock Draft, 2007 Mock draft, and the various player rankings to help you out.

For the sake of simplicity, we have only entered 150 of the top prospects to choose from, with regards to who might be eligible of course. If you there is an unlisted player you think should be on there, please let us know.

When you are done, add in any (optional) intelligent or witty comments you want for any prospect that is deserving and hit SUBMIT MOCK.

You will be able to share your creation with the world on your favorite discussion boards using the “Your Links” section. Just choose which way you want the mock draft to look in terms of detail when your friends view it, click the link to open it and then copy it from the navigation bar of your browser to wherever you please.

Once a fair amount of mock drafts have been added to the database, we will make a composite mock draft that averages all the entries and provides a “consensus mock draft” for fans everywhere. As the draft nears, we will invite personalities from around the draft world to make their own mock draft and possibly feature them on the site.

If you are having trouble with making or editing a mock draft, come across any bugs or would like to vent about something, please let us know.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more exciting interactive features on DraftExpress coming soon!
